Caribbean Day
Balik (with glue)
need: white glue, white cotton/poly material (for ex. t-shirt), paint
brush, cold water dye (bright colors), sponges
Have children draw a simple picture on a piece of paper. Then give
the children a piece of material each. Have the children draw their
design onto the material with pencils.
Then have the children outline their draws on the material with glue.
The thicker the glue the better. Place in a sunny spot to dry.
When the glue is dry mix up the fabric dye. Use two colors that will
blend well as the colors will blend together in some spots (red +
blue = purple). Give the children pieces of sponges to apply the dye
to their drawings. After the dye has dried peel off the glue.
