Smiling Tooth

Fingerplays/Songs

If You Brushed Your Teeth This Morning
Tune: "If You're Happy And You Know It"

If you brushed your teeth this morning,
Smile real big.
If you brushed your teeth this morning,
Smile real big.
If you brushed your teeth this morning,
Then your smile will really show it.
If you brushed your teeth this morning,
Smile real big!

Are Your Teeth Clean and White

Are your teeth clean and white?
Do you brush them every night?
Do you brush them in the morning?
Do you brush them right?
Do you brush them side to side?
Are your teeth clean and white?
Do you floss them good
To remove the bits of food?
Do you floss them every day?
Like you know you should?
Do you take good care of
The teeth that are there?
Do you floss them good?

Brushing

Brush Up like a rocket.
Brush down like the rain.
Brush back and forth,
Round and round like a choo-choo train.

After reading the book make a list with the children of healthy habits from the books. Discuss another thing healthy that helps take of teeth, healthy and unhealthy foods. Make two list "Good for your teeth" and "Bad for your teeth" (ok in moderation) foods. You can cut out foods from magazines and grocery store ads. Pass the pictures out to children. Call on each child to show and tell what the food is and whether it is healthy or not healthy. Attach to chart paper that is divided and labeled in two sections.

Give children magazines and grocery store ads. Have papers with a tooth outline (sad face on one tooth, happy face on other tooth. It is best to print out or draw each tooth on different colors of paper. Children cut out pictures of food. Show you the food and tell you whether it is good or bad for our teeth. Children then glue the pictures on the correct tooth.
