Nine little reindeer,
Ten reindeer pulling the sleigh.

Santa's Reindeer

One, two, three, four, five little reindeer,
(Point to one finger at a time.)
Stood by the North Pole gate.
"Hurry, Santa," called the reindeer,
(Put hands around mouth to call.)
"Or we will all be late."
(Look at "watch.")
One, two, three, four, five little reindeer,
(Point to one finger at a time.)
Santa said, "Please wait!"

(Put hand to ear, listening.)
"Wait for three more little reindeer,
(Hold up three fingers.)
"Then we will have eight."
(Hold up eight fingers.)

Have children tell how many reindeer it will take to make 8. You can change the number of reindeer waiting ("1,2, 3, little reindeer..." and "Wait for five").

Have each child trace one foot. Have the children work in pairs. Next, have each child will trace two hand prints. Cut the tracings out.

Glue the hand-prints behind the wider part of the foot (toe area). On the heel area, create eyes (black or brown) and a nose (red or black).

Reindeer Faces

Can add cotton balls and a frosting sidewalk(outline with candy trims) on the plates.

Give each child a piece of brown construction paper. Have the children trace their hands on the paper. Cut out tracings. Give the children large brown construction paper triangles to use for reindeer faces. Have them place their triangles, points down, on a table.

Help them fold over the two upper corners of their triangles to make ears. Then have the children glue their hand-shaped antlers at the tops of tier triangles. Add black construction paper circles for eyes and noses (or a red circle for a nose).
